Accommodating and Effectively Serving Veterans in the Workplace

Currently, there are over 20 million veterans in the United States. Veterans offer unique talents and skills, a wealth of knowledge and real world experience that can provide immense value to an organization. Yet attracting, engaging and retaining veterans in the workplace has proven unexpectedly problematic for many organizations. This course helps organizations understand the unique issues that veterans may face at work and at home and provides safe, compliant strategies to better understand the needs of a service member-friendly work environment. Accommodating veterans with hidden disabilities, such as Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress, among other areas, are emphasized. Both positive and negative myths about veterans are discussed and debunked and linked to today’s workplace realities. Laws impacting veterans are also reviewed and analyzed, including the FMLA, ADA, VEVRAA and USERRA, as well as relevant state laws.
